(the Pink City).
Le Dôme de La Grave
This monument you can't miss on the banks of the Garonne is one of the most emblematic landmarks in Toulouse. Its name comes from the gravel (gravier in French) on which the building was constructed. However, due to the French Revolution, the Prussian War, and the great flood of 1875, it almost never could stand. It was only in 1939 that the work was finally completed. It is now open to the public It is now open to the public on heritage day (“journée du patrimoine”)
Les Halles de La Cartoucherie
This unique place in Toulouse has several roles. The best known is the quality of the market and the southwestern atmosphere it houses. But, it is also a space dedicated to sports and artistic practice. It is also composed of a performance hall and even a coworking space. For a first experience, we advise you to go and discover the products and meals of local producers for lunch and dinner every day!
Le Capitole
TStanding on the Place du Capitole, it is the flagship building of the Ville Rose. It houses both the Toulouse town hall and the Théâtre du Capitole. You can visit its building marked by its neoclassical architecture and its famous Salle des Illustres. Open every day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (the opening hours differ for the historic rooms so check on the website).
To attend performances at the Théâtre du Capitole, you can go to the online ticket office or on-site (to the right of the main entrance).
Le Marché de Noël
Every year, the Christmas market chalets open on the last weekend of November until the Christmas celebrations in Toulouse. The most emblematic of them is the one held on the Place du Capitole. It is the end-of-year event not to be missed for fans of Christmas but especially of French culinary winter specialties such as truffade, choucroute, and aligot!
Le Jardin des Plantes, la Prairie des Filtres et le Jardin Japonais
For a picnic, sunbathing, a trip with friends, or even a date, these little corners of nature and fresh air in the heart of Toulouse are the ideal places. If you want to be surrounded by plants, then the Jardin des Plantes will be for you. If you are simply looking for a stretch of grass on the banks of the Garonne, then you will love the Prairie des Filtres. Finally, if you are looking for a unique atmosphere in the heart of Toulouse, a calm atmosphere conducive to meditation, then the Japanese Garden is the ideal place.
