About us

The TSEconomist is a student-run magazine published three times a year at the Toulouse School of Economics. It features articles written by students who are passionate about economics and want to share their thoughts on current topics. Each issue includes interviews with professionals, discussions on pressing economic events, and contributions from students sharing their internship or gap year experiences.

The magazine also highlights important economic issues in our “Spotlight” section and offers in-depth analysis through the “Hot Topics” feature.

Issue n°40

Dear readers,

It is with immense pleasure and great joy that we present to you the first issue of this new academic year’s student magazine from the Toulouse School of Economics. As your Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editor-in-Chief, we are delighted to embark on this editorial adventure filled with discoveries, creativity, and engagement. This September edition holds special significance. Not only does it mark the beginning of a new academic year, but it also coincides with the 40th issue.

This milestone is a great opportunity to present a timeless topic that impacts our daily

life and a problem that has grown significantly due to the new technologies, in particular AI: The Economy of Disinformation. In particular, we are honoured to present an article written by TSE Professor Assenza on this subject.

Our team of student journalists has worked tirelessly to offer you diverse and relevant content. In addition to the Spotlight, we tackle essential current issues, such as geopolitics and development. These articles, written with rigor and passion, aim to inform you and provoke thought on the crucial issues of our time.

We also wanted to highlight the experiences and journeys of TSE researchers on health economics. You will find an exclusive interview with Doctor Goulao. On top of that, you will discover testimonials from students on gap years. These inspiring stories showcase the diversity and richness of the opportunities offered by our school.

To enhance your reading experience, our section dedicated to Toulouse’s best spots will introduce you to the finest cafes and restaurants (or cheapest bars…) in the city, selected by our team. We hope these recommendations help you fully enjoy student life in the beautiful “Ville Rose”.

Your feedback is invaluable to us! Please do not hesitate to send us your comments, suggestions, or even your own articles. Our magazine is a space for sharing, and we would be thrilled to publish your contributions in future issues.

We warmly thank you for your continued support and hope you enjoy this issue as much as we enjoyed creating it. Together, let’s open this new chapter of the academic year with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Happy reading and see you soon for new editorial adventures!

Issue n°41

Dear TSE students and alumni,

Dear professors and economists,

Dear readers,

As always, the issue you are reading has been conceived with great passion and hardwork. We would like to begin by expressing our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to its creation: the TSE community and those who joined this adventure from all around the world. Earlier this semester, the theme for this issue’s spotlight was the subject of debate. We ultimately chose to work on Inequalities : We are thrilled to present you with a diverse array of economic insights on goods prices, AI, debt and economic freedom.

As usual, we have not limited our writers to the Spotlight. This issue includes a rich variety of articles, ranging from economic analyses (Hot Topic) to updates on TSE student organisations (On Campus), alumni testimonies (Their Journey Since TSE) and a special book review to motivate you to go in depth in the Sociology world.

We are immensely proud of this edition and hope it provides both enlightenment and enjoyment.

Happy reading!

Martin & Célia

Issue n°42

Dear Readers,

As the year comes to an end, this March edition marks the final issue of TSEconomist for the 2025-2026 season. Our commitment to covering timely and economically relevant topics that engage a wide audience is reflected throughout this issue.

In Academics, we feature an exclusive recap on the Campus Talk of Lionel Cousseins and insights from Louise Merlaud about AVISIA. Meanwhile, our Spotlight section is dedicated to resources as a global issue, a quite relevant topic in today’s world, examining its wide-ranging implications-from industry and foreign relations to technology. Beyond this thriving topic, our Hot Topics section explores pressing debates: climate change, China’s demographics, and the U.S. ambitions over Greenland.

This edition also brings you testimonies from TSE alumni, a recap of campus events, including the 2025 Teaching Awards, and a selection of distinctive places to loosen up in Toulouse.

As the 2025-2026 editorial board wraps up its final issue, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our readers-students, professors, sponsors and supporters for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the year. We are also deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making this publication possible. A special thank you goes to Isabela Rosales, whose support during critical moments has been invaluable.

A big shoutout to AVISIA who was our sponsor this year, and made it possible to publish all of our issues you held in your hands over this year as well as the news of the week you saw on Instagram and of course our events: the Campus Talk with Christian Gollier we organized with Say It Aloud and the Teaching Awards that we presented during the BDE Gala. We hope to continue this adventure together next year!

Happy reading! Happy holidays (soon) for everyone: good luck in your future careers for our fellow M2s, in your internships for the M1s and L3s.

In the name of all the 2025-2026 TSEconomist board, it was a great honor to contribute this year and we hope you will continue to enjoy your Student’s Magazine, TSEconomist.
